What was meant to be a 3 night stay in Brisbane turned into a 5 night stay when all transport was cancelled due to the cyclone. We honestly couldn’t have stayed anywhere better than Roamers. The staff were all amazing, Beth Mike and Megan on reception were there to extend our stay and kindly let us stay in the same room the whole time. They were such a help and offered advice and a chat when the cabin fever was setting in. They would have a dealt with this for every customer plus all the cancellations, they always had a smile. The bar stayed open the whole time, the bar staff - Mattis, Arie, Kcee, Clara were also amazing. There was a brill lunch deal on and being one of the only restaurants/ bars open it was always full and everything was always perfect. They put on an event every night which was such a highlight and lead us to making our little group of friends. How they had the energy to work and entertain I have no idea! We also had an incident with a member of the public not understanding personal space and the bar and reception staff were straight onto it, felt super super safe here. We probably saw more of the housekeeping team than ever before just due to how little we left the hostel for safety and weather. The hostel was so tidy and clean to say it was full and the city was closed. One of the fridges broke for a night (cyclones fault not hostel) and the staff moved all the food to a back up fridge. Moved things around in the kitchen when there was a leak (also cyclone fault) so no one’s food was wasted. The hallways and co working space was always clean. So thank you to the houses keeping staff - Kim, Amelia, Lena, Maja, Melissa. And a big shout out to probably the craziest job to have during a cyclone Theo on maintenance, there really wasn’t much disruption at all to say it was major weather warning so thank you for keeping us safe!

The greyhound bus stop and train station is super close by, maybe a 10-15 minute walk to this hostel down main streets. It is easy to find and a great place to stay. The reception staff were friendly and there was a secure place to store luggage in the office behind reception. Check in was a little chaotic and late but I think it was a learning curve with new staff so I can't hold that against them. Once checked in the room is spacious with good quality and sturdy in-built bunk beds with easy to climb ladders. The room had a bathroom attached which was convenient. There are lots of extra curricular activities put on such as film nights etc to keep you entertained throughout the week and there is a lovely bar attached in the same building where you can chill and have great food and drinks. Wifi from memory was good but I didn't use that much or try to work from here. Overall, would recommend!

The location is great, right in front of the Roma station. I was in the women’s dorm, a room with 4 bunk beds. I felt safe throughout my time there. I particularly liked the style of the bunk beds - which allowed you to have total privacy. And a lockable (byo small pad lock) shelf within the bunkbed space that could fit a cabin size luggage. However no other storage lockers were available in the room from what I could see. I had a late flight and arrived after reception hours and Riccardo came to my rescue promptly which I was extremely grateful for.

I liked everything, clearly the best hostels I have stayed in Australia (visited 10 cities) - Ideally located in the centre - convenient bracelet that is used as a card to open the doors - Nice staff - big dorms with a big bathroom, clearly we have space and it's soooo great - nice facilities inside the dorm (curtains for the bed, wardrobe and shampoo/shower gel inside the shower - first time that I see that : international sockets so no need adapter (the person who thought about the is a genius) - super clean - restaurant just next to it.

Amandine

Bed is super comfortable with curtains for privacy. Room is air-conditioned. Housekeeping happens when someone in your room checked out so the bathroom is clean. Shampoo and body wash provided. You can also borrow a hair dryer from the reception. All the other ladies in my room were quiet and considerate so I was really lucky. Definitely recommend paying extra to stay in a female dorm.
